Founded in 1951, Clutch Industries emerged from Repco’s clutch manufacturing during Australia’s automotive boom, quickly earning a reputation for technical capability and reliability; Values that remain core today.

That expertise extended into motorsport, including supplying clutch components for a Championship-winning Brabham F1 car, reinforcing its performance credentials.

Over time, Clutch Industries became a trusted supplier for major OEMs such as Ford, Holden, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan. A key milestone was developing a twin-disc clutch for the iconic Ford XY GT-HO, then the world’s fastest four-door sedan, cementing the brand’s reputation for innovation and Australian engineering excellence.

Evolving With the Automotive Industry

As the automotive industry evolved, so did Clutch Industries. The early 1900’s saw a major restructuring that strengthened the company’s engineering capability across friction materials, design, validation, and manufacturing.

In 2002, the business rebranded as Clutch Industries, shifting focus from domestic OEM supply to high-quality aftermarket solutions. Since then, innovation has remained central, with six patents granted, the most of any Australian clutch Manufacturer.
