Clutch Industries has two auto-loading Mazak CNC machines in their Melbourne manufacturing plant. These machines are used to make components in a Mantic Clutch Twin or Triple disc clutch kit.
The pressure and intermediate/floater plate start out as 1045 billet steel before being milled into the near-complete component. The cover assembly starts out as aircraft-grade aluminium billets before being milled into the cover. Mantic Clutch Flywheels are manufactured in-house using their two other Mazak CNC machines that are manually loaded by an operator.
This video shows the milling of the 9″ pressure plate from a billet to a near-final component. Clutch Industries runs these machines from 6.30am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday to keep up with demand of their Australian manufactured Mantic Clutch Track series product which is exported globally.
